Menopause is often discussed in relation to hot flushes, sleep or skin, but bone health is another important part of the picture. Oestrogen helps protect bone density, so the years around menopause are a useful time to think about prevention and strength.
Why bone health matters
Bone density naturally changes with age, and the fall in oestrogen after menopause can increase the rate of bone loss for some women. This does not mean everyone will have problems, but it does mean that awareness and prevention matter.
Simple foundations
Weight-bearing movement, strength work, adequate calcium, vitamin D, sensible alcohol intake and not smoking all support bone health. For some women, medical review, blood tests or further assessment may be appropriate.
Looking at the whole person
Skin, hormones, sleep, mood, energy and long-term health are connected. A calm clinical conversation can help you understand what is relevant to you and what steps may be worth considering.
